Jamaica shines at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad

 

 

The 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad brought together more than 200 nations in one of the world's largest chess competitions, hosted in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Jamaica proudly fielded teams in both the Open and Women's sections, demonstrating resilience, talent, and determination on the global stage.

Jamaica's Open Team, featured Joshua Christie, Shreyas Smith, Raheem Glaves, Jaden Shaw, and Akeem Brown, competed courageously against some of the strongest chess nations in the world. The teams final rankingg was 124th out of 206 participants..

The Open Team consisted of:

• FM Shreyas Smith (rated 2272)
• FM Joshua Christie (rated 2216)
• FM Raheem Glaves (rated 2127)
• FM Jaden Shaw (rated 2100)
• CM Akeem Brown (rated 2072)

The Jamaica Women's Team also delivered a commendable performance, securing a ranking of 90th among 189 teams,
TheWomens team featured:

• WIM Rachel Miller (Board 1)
• WFM Adani Clarke (Board 2)
• WCM Gabriella Watson (Board 3)
• WCM Kaia Gayle (Board 4)
• Amy Stephenson (Reserve)

The performances in Samarkand reflect the dedication of our athletes, coaches, administrators, and supporters who continue to advance the game across the island.
