PROVEN Wealth and Tastee Boost UWI Rapid Chess Tournament

PROVEN Wealth and Tastee Limited have added their support to the upcoming and long anticipated M.R. Games Chess Open. The event, which takes place at the Old Dramatic Theater of the University of the West Indies, will feature speed chess events.

There will be rapid and blitz sections on August 25 and 26 respectively. Part proceeds from the event will go towards the National Children's Home.Former National Champions Warren Elliott, Shane Matthews and Shreyas Smith have confirmed their participation; among many other favorites. There will also be age group categories for players under 16 and under 12. Players will be competing for over $50,000 in cash and prizes.

The event is sponsored by PROVEN Wealth, Tastee Limited, The Gleaner, Guardian Life Limited, and Marc Francis Ramsay & Company. Players can register by visiting www.mrgamesjamaica.com.

Open Section: First place $15,000 Second place $8,000 Third place $7,000; Best Female

Under 16: 1st $5,000 plus Prizes for 1st to 5th, Best Under 14 1st to 3rd, Best Female

Under 12: 1st $5,000 plus Prizes for 1st to 5th, Best Under 10 1st to 3rd, Best Female

Rounds: 1 - 10 am, 2 - 11:20 am; 3 - 1:30 pm; 4 - 3:20 pm; 5 - 4:30 pm

AUGUST 26: BLITZ

Open Section: First place $8,000 Second place $5,000 Third place $4,000; Best Female

Under 16: 1st $5,000 plus Prizes for 1st to 5th, Best Under 14 1st to 3rd, Best Female

Simultaneous exhibition begins at 3 pm
