OUR MISSION

The Jamaica Chess Federation was founded in 1969 and has been affiliated to F.I.D.E., which is the world governing body for chess, since 1972. In its capacity as the Governing body for Chess in Jamaica, the JCF is devoted to extending the role of chess in the Jamaican society. It is therefore the Federations purpose, to continue to teach and promote the game of chess,for its own sake as a sport and enjoyment, while encouraging and organising sanctioned tournaments, so that players can benefit by improving and playing their game in a safe, appealing and chess-friendly environment.

The main function of the Jamaica Chess Federation is the organization of tournaments, contests, seminars, workshops, and training sessions.

SUPPORTING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

• To promote the playing of chess throughout the Island of Jamaica.

• To encourage the formation of Chess clubs and Associations in Jamaica.

• To promote the teaching of chess in Jamaica. •

To organise Chess tournaments, contests, seminars, workshops, and training sessions.

• To be affiliated with F.I.D.E. and other International Chess Organisations. • To be affiliated with other members of organisations of F.I.D.E.

• To do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the above named objectives.
